No matter what time of year you visit Rosendal, there is something magical waiting for you. Road conditions
Please drive carefully, road quality in this part of the eastern Free State is highly variable particularly on regional access roads.

Petrol stations
Petrol and diesel is not available on Sundays & Public holidays.

ATM
There are no ATMs in town. 

Cellphones and Wifi
Most guesthouses offer Wifi. Although there are cellphone signals most of the time, MTN is more reliable in this area.

Routes

Travelling from Gauteng via N3:

  • Take the N3 highway southbound towards Villiers.
  • From Villiers, go to Frankfort, Tweeling, Reitz, take the turnoff to Bethlehem (R26/N5).
  • From Bethlehem, follow the road towards Fouriesburg (R26).
  • Just before Ficksburg, turn right onto the R70 towards Rosendal.
  • Continue on the R70 until you reach Rosendal.

Alternative Route via N1 (with caution):

  • Take the N1 southbound to Ventersburg.
  • From Ventersburg, take the R70 towards Senekal.
  • At Senekal, join the N5 heading towards Paul Roux.
  • Shortly after Senekal, look out for the R 70 Ficksburg.

Travelling from KwaZulu-Natal 

  • Take the N3 north bound to Harrismith.
  • From Harrismith, follow the N5 west to Bethlehem.
  • Continue on the R26 to Fouriesburg.
  • Before reaching Ficksburg, turn left onto the R70 towards Rosendal.
  •  

Traveling from Bloemfontein via N1: 

  • Take the N1 Northbound to Ventersburg.
  • From Ventersburg, take the R70 towards Senekal.
  • At Senekal, join the N5 heading towards Paul Roux.
  • Shortly after Senekal, look out for the R 70 Ficksburg.

Traveling from Bloemfontein via N8/R 26: 

  • Depart Bloemfontein on the N8 east, which smoothly bypasses Thaba Nchu and Botshabelo. After about 78 km, you’ll arrive just south of Ladybrand. 
  • At Ladybrand, transition onto the R26 north, passing through the town centre and continuing for approximately 35 km to Clocolan
  • From Clocolan, stay on the R26 heading north-east until you reach Ficksburg
  • Just after Ficksburg, turn left onto the R70 to Rosendal.
