Converse is the current exhibition at ark. contemporary. The show brings together painting, drawing and bronze sculpture in an exploration of nature beyond its recognisable forms.

Moving between abstraction and representation, the exhibition considers the natural world through material, gesture, texture and form. Earth-toned paintings converse with bronze sculptures, while images of birds, jackals and horns introduce traces of the living world.

Cherry Steam Festival 2026

Sandstone Estates proudly presents the annual Cherry Steam Festival – a living showcase of South Africa’s mechanical, military, agricultural, aviation and steam heritage. 

The Sandstone Steam Railway will be in full swing over Cherry Harvest weekend, alongside vintage tractors, classic vehicles, military displays, Afrikaner trek oxen and classic aircraft. Food and craft stalls, the Flywheel Bar and beer tent will be open daily.
