Escape to the charm of Modderfort, a beautifully 112-year-old self-catering cottage nestled in the picturesque village of Rosendal in the Eastern Free State. Rich in character and history, this cosy retreat offers the perfect setting for couples, friends, or small families seeking a peaceful countryside escape.

The cottage accommodates up to 4 guests in 2 bedrooms, each furnished with a double bed. The main bedroom enjoys lovely mountain views, while the shared bathroom is fitted with a shower. Bed linen, bath towels, essential toiletries, electric blankets, a portable fan, and an electric panel heater are provided for added comfort. Guests also have the option to enjoy the outdoor shower with hot water.

The open-plan living area combines a lounge, dining area, and well-equipped kitchenette. Guests can prepare light meals using the 2-plate gas stove, fridge-freezer, microwave, countertop oven, kettle, toaster, and cooking essentials. An original antique fireplace adds warmth and character, making the cottage especially inviting during the colder months.

A standout feature of the cottage is the spacious covered veranda that stretches the full length of the home. Complete with outdoor furniture, a dining area, a daybed, and a cosy reading nook, it is the perfect place to relax while enjoying the peaceful surroundings. Guests can also make use of the private braai area. Guests will receive one complimentary bag of firewood upon arrival, but additional firewood required is available at an additional cost. Books and board games are available for indoor entertainment.
